in Technical Support

On August 7th, 2015 AVG Anti-virus release an update to their software that is incompatible with Office Tools WorkSpace. Installing this update causes AVG to scan our core program files while OTW is running, causing errors and spontaneous crashing. OTW is fully compatible with the large majority of anti-virus programs, including Symantec Endpoint Protection, Avast, Webroot SecureAnywhere, Bitdefender Plus, Kaspersky, McAfee, and many more.

At this time we are unable to find simple a work around. The only solution we have is to disable AVG. We have determined that Website Protection or ID Theft Protection features in AVG seem to be the root cause. When those features are enabled, the program crashes. When you disable the features and restart the machine, the crashing should subside, though this has not been successful 100%  of the time. In our tests, we have uninstalled AVG completely and then reinstalled it, and during that installation we excluded those two features from the installation. This procedure has yielded the highest success rate.

Our development teams is working expediently to find a solution. Any updates on the status of this issue will be immediately disseminated. At this time we recommend moving to a different anti-virus software provider.
